Now Showing: AlAndalus

Brief

Through archival photographs, memory, collage-making, and poster design, this two-day workshop explores the everlasting legacy of cinema AlAndalus and its absence from the city. Participants reimagined and revisited the building through visual storytelling, culminating in large-scale printed posters responding to memory, demolition, and architectural heritage.

Outcome

Participants will got the chance to examine the building’s history and look at archival photos and prints of vintage movie posters in order to strum up their reaction to the building's demolition and lack of presence in the modern architecture discourse. Using these photographs, ready made block prints and various cuttings each participant created their own version of a movie poster or collage documenting their reaction to the building and its history.
